Extreme Flats Fishing

Captain Wayne Johnson is a Florida native raised on the waters of the Tampa Bay. He has fished these local waters for more than 25 years, with ample experience in backwater and offshore fishing. He was U.S. Coast Guard Licensed in 2004 with the expectation of starting the areas finest charter fishing business.

Being raised in the small town of Palmetto, Florida (Southern Tampa Bay) Captain Wayne has fished the local inshore and backwaters of the Lower Tampa Bay down to Boca Grande and up to 50 miles offshore fishing wrecks, reefs, and natural springs. The lower Tampa Bay is worth the drive from St. Petersburg, Tampa, and surrounding cities with our natural mangrove lines and grass flats. The water clarity is as beautiful as anywhere in the Caribbean. Offshore there are many reefs and natural springs from 3 miles out to a maximum of 50 miles.

biggest motivation for me doing what I do.

Being A Fishing Charter Captain

"The biggest motivation behind me wanting to be fishing charter captain is to see a child catch his or her first fish and creating a memory that will never be forgotten.

The second would be the competition between friends that have booked a trip and the excitement of a big fish. (Regardless if it was caught or lost).

Third would be surrounded by nature's beauty every day that the weather allows." - Captain Wayne

Custom Fishing Charter Boat

Captain Wayne's boat is a 2004 Sea Pro 1900 with a Custom rigged upper station, (for sight fishing and spotting fish on the flats) trim tabs, and jack-plate (for shallow water fishing) custom Livewell, (for lots of bait) plenty of storage, a t-top over helm for those seeking shade and the latest in electronics. The vessel meets the requirements of the US coast guard's regulations and includes a VHF Radio, type 1 life vests, and throwable devices.

Benefits of using this boat:

Our bay and back water boat will run shallow enough to get you to the fish in the flats and has enough dead rise for a comfortable ride in seas. She was designed for bay fishing where the seas will pick up and get pretty rugged and with the custom modifications that were added allows for a shallow draft needed for backwater fishing.
