Tampa Bay Weather Conditions by Season

Sea conditions:

Spring – If we have a big north wind it will be rough for near shore fishing, normally spring is the best time of year not to hot usually and the fish really like to eat!  Spring days are very beautiful!

Summer – Is always beautiful in the morning with afternoon thunderstorms. It's the same routine year after year although we may get an occasional rainy morning.

Fall
– Normally pretty calm with the exception of cold fronts, again very good fishing thru out the day.

Winter
– If we have a big north wind it is very rough. Very difficult to offshore fish, Backwater fishing there are several places to fish out of the wind that are very productive.

There are some weather patterns that can influence the fishing in Tampa Bay.

  • Sail fishing normally kicks off with the first winter cold front.
  • All inshore species fish picks up in the spring.
  • Offshore grouper and snapper are year round and other species are normally spring to fall.

We recommend wearing a hat, sunglasses, and long sleeves thru out the year. Winter fishing can be pretty cold so dress however needed to stay warm.
